and Amal Alamuddin will invite only 60 close family and guests to their wedding on a private Venetian island in a couple of weeks, according to insiders.
The Oscar winner revealed his nuptials with stunning British fiance Alamuddin will take place in Venice - not at his sprawling mansion on the shores of Lake Como, as expected - while accepting an award in the picturesque Tuscany region during a charity event on Sunday night.
The 53-year-old said: “I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places.”
The bride, who wears a £451,000 engagement ring, will be wearing an Alexander McQueen dress for her big day and has been seen visiting the company’s London headquarters several times in recent weeks.
best man is still a closely guarded secret with newlywed Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Cindy Crawford’s husband Rande Gerber all rumoured to be in contention. Other guests include Julia Roberts

Friends star Jennifer Aniston is also reported to have been invited but it is not known if she will attend with her ex husband Pitt and new wife, her “arch enemey” Angelina Jolie, being there.
US President Barack Obama has not been invited as he has “more important things to do”.
The editor of American Vogue, Brit Anna Wintour, is also going and is expected to feature the wedding in an upcoming edition of her magazine.
The couple are then expected to host a final banquet on October 25 at Danesfield House in Medmenham near Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
Billed as “quintessentially British” the hotel and spa has won a host of awards including a Michelin star for its food.
