It was this year's best kept secret, but pictures have finally been published from Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie
and Brad Pitt's
intimate French wedding.
The images from their special day, which tool place at Chataeu Miraval in the south of France, show the actress dressed in a Versace designed silk ivory dress, which features a ruched bodice, thin straps, and a flowing skirt.
The couple's six children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, Knox, 6, and Vivienne, 6, also played a part in the creation, with their special drawings embroidered on the back of the dress and the long veil with the help of Versace tailor and close family friend Luigi Massi.
The actress wore her dark hair scraped back from her face and kept her make-up minimal.
Donatella Versace posted about the gown on Twitter today, writing: "Congratulations Angelina Jolie! You look sensational in my creation for your special day! Lots of love, DV."
Other images from their wedding, which was witnessed by just 22 lucky guests, also show Brad
, 50, looking dapper in a black suit as he revealed he had to borrow a tie from one of his son's after forgetting to pack one.
and Brad Pitt had their children help to write their vows.
The newlyweds, whose beautiful photographs feature exclusively in People and HELLO! magazines this week, also asked their six children to help write the vows.
A source said: "The atmosphere was warm and informal – there were giggles and a ring was dropped.
"All the children helped to write the vows and asked their parents to make promises to each other."
According to Mail Online, the Moneyball actor's parents, Bill and Jane, were among the guests at the wedding, along with his brother Doug and sister Julie and her two children, although Angelina's father Jon Voight was not present.
Recently married Mirror Style Editor Dinah van Tulleken says: "I'm no wedding dress expert (my now husband ordered mine on the internet and it just happened to fit) but anyone can see that Angelina's frock is freakin' gorgeous.
"I can't say I'm surprised when she's got a master Atelier like Versace’s Luigi Massi on hand to create the thing but even so, this dress has been very tastefully done.
"The fitted bodice with simple thin straps and the bust complete with ruching are feminine without being flouncy and the dress flatters her tiny frame and creates curves exactly where they should be.
"There's no fuss, there's no frill, there's no lace, just elegance."
